Fun with Grandma and Grandpa

Grandma and Grandpa have been visiting this past week. And, come hell or high water, I've been determined to get some pictures.

Uncle Pete was also here for the weekend.
I think he came just to tickle Logan!

The Easter Bunny brought Logan a cool bug vacuum. Here he and Grandpa are collecting the bugs from the pool filter basket.

(although I think that may be cheating!)

more cakes!

Here are a couple cakes I've recently done.

The first one was for Daniel, Dawn's son, who just returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan.

While he was there, he literally lived in a cave, which he shared with several lonely frogs. Of Course I had to include them on the cake.
This one was for one of Logan's teachers.

She ordered another cake exactly like this for her mother's birthday, so I'm making it again tomorrow.

Easter Brunch

We held our annual orphan's brunch for everyone in the neighborhood who did not have family close by. Of course, our guest of honor was a little man with a cute smile.

(no, not Dave!) This was Dylan's first Easter and it was great fun to have him here.

We had our usual Easter Egg hunt and everyone seem to be pretty happy with their findings.

It was a wonderful day.

And even better for us, since we weren't orphans.

Mom and Dad were here to help us celebrate!

Our Garden

As you know, we've started our garden.
Craig and I (YES, ME) worked very hard to get the grass up and the dirt tilled and ready for planting.
And plant we did!
We are eagerly awaiting the fruit (or veggies in our case) of all our hard work.
We planted zucchini and yellow squash, green beans, green onions and Texas sweet onions. Carrots, radishes, green leaf lettuce, cilantro, dill, basil and chives. We've got green and orange peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes and potatoes.
And we really did not have to wait long . . .

And now, as you can see below, our green beans and lettuce are sprouting.

I know this is pretty boring stuff, but we're getting a real kick out of this garden so far. I can't wait to put on my sun bonnet and skip out to the garden with my basket. I just know that first salad we make is going to be the best tasting salad we've ever had.

(And rightly so, considering it will have cost about $350.00!)

Turns out I was allergic to Coco and Brownie.

But we found them a very good home.

Which was probably best, since I was really the only one who paid any attention to them.

Chloe got to get all dolled up and celebrate Sophie's birthday at Cheesecake factory.

This next picture cracks me up. Logan has been constantly asking to go buy new toys. So I told him. He needs to pick out at least 5 toys to sell at the upcoming neighborhood garage sale before he can get any more toys.

What a sacrifice he has made. Did I mention that two of the three items are his sisters.

And we're very excited that we are FINALLY starting our garden.

Craig framed everything out last weekend and we're going to get the dirt and seeds today.

Like Father, Like Daughter

Well, Chloe must have thought that it looked really fun . . .

Yep, she's now sportin' the latest in cast wear.
She slipped on the side of the pool and hyper extended her toes. She said they hurt but nothing was red or swollen so, Mom of the Year here, sent her off to school the next day with a stern, "Suck it up Girl". Later that day I got a call from the principle advising me Chloe was going to need help getting off the bus, since she could barely walk. Sure enough, she came home in tears with a very puffy foot. After a quick trip to the doctors and an x-ray we learned she has a buckle fracture. After all the flips and cartwheels this girl does EVERYWHERE, she hurts her foot walking!?!

Of course everyone has been commenting on how fast she gets around on her crutches and boot. She was even out playing basketball last night with Daisy.

Nothing' slows my girl down!

Breakfast with Jo!

On our way home from Iowa we were able to meet up with Aunt Joanne in Chicago for Breakfast.
It's been way too long since we've seen her.

Spring Break 2010

This week was spring break for me and the kids. So we took a quick trip to visit their Great Grandma in Iowa. The trip was very short, but very sweet. I couldn't get my camera to work so had to go get a disposable from Walmart. Hence the poor quality of pictures. But the memories we made are vivid and clear in our hearts.



Cousin Emily was great with the kids. And Logan and Max became very good buddies.

Most of the snow was gone from the back yard, but the kids had as much fun with a small pile of wet, slushy snow as one can have.

Cuddles were never in short supply with Great Grandma around.

Sandy was pretty great with the hugs too.

Here they are with little Conner, Sandy's adorable grandson and my third cousin.

Dan and Sandy, thank you so much for having us. We loved every minute of our visit with you and Kay, Emily, Annie and Brett. And we're so happy to have met little Conner.

Hopefully it won't be another two years before we see you again.

And after unpacking and getting some laundry done, I did a this Star Wars cake for a little boy turning 6. It was kind of hard because I didn't know if he like the original Star Wars or the new ones. I wasn't really sure what type of design to go with.And that's about it for our spring break.

Tomorrow we (and when I say 'we' I mean Craig. I'm strictly here to supervise)

are finally putting in a garden.
