The Texas Renaissance Festival

This weekend was a real hodge-podge of events.

Saturday the kids had soccer and cheer, but I was on, what felt to be, my deathbed. I've been fighting a cold for a couple weeks and it had just about won the battle. Luckily, after my wonderful husband took the kids to their games, he came home, then turned right around and took me to the doctors.

Sunday I was feeling better (not sure if it was the first round of antibiotics, some much needed rest, or just the need to get out of the house,) but we decided to check out the Texas Renaissance Festival with some friends.

While the advertisements say 'fun for the whole family', it seem to specifically cater to the dads.
I swear I saw more boobs hanging out than in a Motley Crue Video.

We got there in time to see the parade of freaks . . .I mean characters.
(which, by the way, was the only free thing to do there!)

Then went off to enjoy the sights and festivities.

Chloe loved seeing lots of fairies and maidens wandering about
(it was Pirate's weekend, hence Chloe's attire)

There were a few rides for the kids.

Although, since Craig and I are dead set against taking out a second mortgage, they only got to ride two.

But they didn't seem to mind.

Chloe and Logan really loved this bridge in the "Magic Garden". Which turned out to be just a really long ass walk around a drainage creek.

Logan and AJ LOVED the jousting and swords everyone had.
They, of course, had to get some of their own.

And after all the fun was had and all the money was spent, we headed out.

Why? I have no idea.

I'm sure you'd never guess it from all my comments. But we actually had a great time.
We may even go back (bringing our own food and drinks, of course!) to check out more shows.
Who knows . . .I just may need to get one of those tails myself!

Nursery Rhymes and School pics

This morning Logan and Craig enjoyed their first Donuts with Dad at Kaufman.

I met them at the school a little later to get Logan ready for his Nursery Rhyme parade. Can you guess his nursery rhyme?

We were told not to do anything elaborate for the costumes . . .and you know me, always being one to follow directions to the T.

Of course we know what ever you put this boy in, he'll be the most adorable one out there.

Here's a very quick, and I mean, very quick, snip it of Logan in his parade.

Ever wonder why it takes the kids so long to get ready for school?
It's my fault for assuming they were eating breakfast . . .well, I guess Logan was multitasking.

We are happy to announce that Logan is now a full -fledged-card carrying-training-wheel free bike rider.

We took our first ride around the entire neighborhood this weekend

without one bloody knee in sight.

A pretty good weekend!

Logan played his first soccer game Saturday. Needless to say, he was AWESOME.
The boy scored three goals (even though we're not supposed to keep track!) and had multiple break aways! It was quite impressive, if I do say so myself!

Actually, pretty much his whole team did great . . .
but, honestly, we know who the star was right?

Later that night, Craig and I headed over to the Improv to see Adam Corolla.

And lots of friends.

Wasn't a bad way to spend my last night in the 30's.

40 doesn't seem too bad!

Sunday was my actual birthday, so the Craig and kids (along with Daisy May) took me out to breakfast at our local donut shop, where the kids got to watch them being made.

The rest of the day was filled with a nap, lunch with Gary, some TV viewing, then another nap and more eating. And ended with a piece of this beautiful cake. A cake that my children made while I was off getting drunk.

Obviously they've inherited my mad cake skills!

Who's ready for some soccer?

That's right folks. It's that time again.
Logan and AJ are once again taking their fierceness on to the field!

Logan's first game as a Rebel will be played this Saturday.
I'm actually looking forward to the games now that the weather is nicer.

When Logan's not practicing his kicks, he's taking care of AJ's little sister, Julia.
Actually, I was watching her the other day and Logan insisted on feeding her.
I love that he's got his mouth open wider than she does.

Well.... it's a photo of my girl playing her flute with a camera that's been left in the fridge for two days. Note to the wise: Don't put your camera in the fridge for two days.

And lastly, one more cake I made last weekend.
Pretty simple.

I know. Exciting stuff, I tell ya.

So why was it that I never let my kids make lunch?

Oh yeah, now I remember.
M&M's, Cheetos, Lucky Charms (the cheap kind!) and a bagel.
This is what Logan had out for his lunch on a morning I overslept.
And the funny thing was, he was so sure I was going to let him.
(honestly, had I gotten up just a few minutes later I probably would have!
Don't judge.

A menagerie of stuff . .

Wow, I cannot believe it's been almost three weeks since I've gotten on the blog!
YIKES!
I must get my priorities straight . . .
We've all been humming right along, trying to get into some sort of schedule now that school has started.

Craig's been working with Logan on the bike riding, sans training wheels.

I flew up to Placerville for my girlfriend's 40th birthday.
It was great to see her and good old Northern California.

Not too many pics to share. This was pretty much all I saw the whole weekend.
But it was great to be able to sit and visit so I'm not complaining. (well, we did get into Placerville, but it's Placerville. 'nough said) Her house is beautiful and the weather was down right cool, that makes for a great time in my book.

The weekend before last was Gary's birthday. Mom and dad were also in town so we decided to splurge, put on our best flip flops and jeans and head over to Steele City Pizza.
Yep, nothin' is too good for Uncle Gary.

We had a great visit with mom and Dad.

Course these were the only photos we really got of their whole trip.

Chloe has been having a great time cheering. She and Daisy had pictures the other day, so I tried to get a few of my own so I didn't have to buy the big package deal.

Logan and AJ had fun just watching the cheerleaders.
