My girl. My hero.

Sometimes I can be very hard on my girl.  While she usually pulls A's and B's, sometimes things can get very heated during homework times or when we hear about a not-so-great test score.   Today it took a near stranger to remind me just how wonderful and special Chloe is.   It's a little embarrassing to say this, being her mother I should always remember this first and foremost, right? And it's not that I forget this fact, but I guess I become so hell bent on trying to make sure she's the best she can be I loose sight of just how amazing she already is.  Clearly a test score, a final grade or the state of her room will never adequately demonstrate her potential in life, give a true understanding of depth of kindness in her soul, her ability to remain positive no matter what she's facing or the fact that she is truly one of the most loving people I know.  These traits are what matter, what makes a person successful in life.   And regardless of where she goes to school or career path she chooses, she's already accomplished so much.  She's already become a person that I desperately aspire to be.  She's my hero.

Here's what I received today.  This is the second SAE Chloe has received.

In every class there are students who make teaching enjoyable. Sometimes it is because they are very positive... and their attitude is contagious to others. Sometimes it is because they are smart... and it raises the level of performance in the classroom. Then there are those people like Chloe who are both positive and smart. People like her are a joy to teach. I appreciate her hard work in History. She is a wonderful young lady. I know that she will be successful in everything she does in school and in life.

Thank you for being you!!
Mr. Mantooth.
