Halloween Fun!

Friday I went in to help Logan's class do some pumpkin math. We got to crave pumpkins. Weigh them, guess their circumference and count every seed.

We had 534 in ours, in case you were wondering.
Saturday, Inge and Kaitlyn came to visit so we decided to check out a local 'exotic' animal pumpkin patch.
While the pumpkin patch wasn't much to look at, they did have a few animals that we weren't used to seeing at your typical petting zoo.
The camels were great. Very friendly . . .didn't try to spit at us once.

They had two pot bellied pigs wandering around. Penelope and Jenny seemed to enjoy the attention from Kaitlyn and Chloe.
There were also two little piglets. These guys were so cute. If you scratched their sides, they would just fall over sideways so you could scratch their tummies, like a little puppy.
And, for a mere three dollars you could paint yourself a pumpkin.

and their creations . . .

Here the kids are awaiting the special 'surprise' animal presentation.
This is Justin, the Fairy Armadillo. Yes, Logan actually named him.
He was adorable. Just 3 months old.
I think I was the most excited since this was the first LIVE armadillo, outside of a zoo, I've seen since we've been here.

They also had Jewel, their rescue Kangaroo. She lost part of her leg and now lives at the farm.

The kids loved her. She was so soft!

Later on we donned our costumes for a practice run at trick or treating up at the church. They were having a little Trunk or Treat activity. You know, because we didn't think we'd get enough candy that night.

I'd say it was a successful trial run.

Then we went home so Spiderman could rest up for the grand finale later that night.

A little later the kids were ready to go.
(If you look closely at this picture you can see Logan is smiling under his mask!)

In addition to Spiderman, a Pirate and Madonna's back up dancer, we had Tony Hawk visit. Skateboard and all.

And Mister T.
Actually, this is Nate, our neighbor. Who committed to his costume 100% by shaving his head.
And we wrapped up our evening with the traditional sorting of the candy.
Chloe separated hers by favors, Kaitlyn by type and Logan by shape . . .you know, all the circle's went to together... all the rectangles. I had never actually seen that method before, but it seem to work for him.

Then the kids were sent to bed and I began my yearly raiding of my children's bounty.
Inge and Kaitlyn left this afternoon, back to the cool temps of Oregon. It was a fun visit and I hope they come back soon . . .and bring more of that cool weather with them.

Editors note: I've gained 3 pounds since this post when to print.

The kids looked awfully cute in their costumes! What IS with the sorting of the candy? I have no more ziploc baggies left in the house after Austin and Caitlin sorted. I'm not much for petting zoos (animals scare me), but I wouldn't mind seeing what an armadillo felt like.

PS... I have tickets to Harry Potter at 12:15 am that Thursday/Friday. I better get caught up on my HP movies so I know what's going on!
