Go Texans!

Friday was Go Texan's Day. Chloe got to dress up once again and enjoy Chili Frito pie at school!
If you're wondering that her outfit looks familiar, it's the same shirt she's worn for the past three (yes, three) years to Go Texan day. And actually, the same boots, but you can't see those. She did say that her feet hurt, so I guess it's time to get a bigger size. After school, Chloe and Daisy were playing and I realized how much they are like their mothers.
Same exact outfits, right down to the roller blades.
So, since we were in the Texan mood, we decided to head over to the Rodeo and have some fun.
And, boy diddy, did we ever!

Us moms had a little fun too!

So after our carnival fun, we decided to go check out a little up and coming band.
They're not really well known, but I think they have potential.
You probably haven't heard of them.

It was pretty hard getting Chloe to pay attention to the camera!
Oh, there she goes!

After taking about a hundred photos, we just sat and enjoyed watching the girls.

Because no matter how cute those brothers were, watching my girl
have a good time was so much better! Okay, I'm going to attempt another video.
The other ones I posted never did work, so keep your fingers crossed.

Who Knew?

Okay, so this first picture is totally random. I just thought Logan was cute with his bed head and wanted to share . . . .Mom, these next photos are for you. Remember those really old time Polly Pocket games you bought at a garage sale for, what, .50.
Well, today, after . . . oh, about 5 years we discovered one had a hidden compartment for batteries.
and look at what it does with new batteries! I think might just be the best deal ever found at a garage sale.
The kids still LOVE these things, especially since Logan found a little tiny astronaut that is the perfect size (Trent, I think it was yours. It came out of this tiny spaceship that looked like a ball???) And now it lights up! And all for .50? Way to go mom!

Anyone up for a game . . .

I got a new controller! My latest. This was a fun one. You can't see my favorite part, but I rolled the fondant under a towel, so the strap looks just like the real woven strap.
Although I realize I need to find a good pound cake recipe so I can get sharper edges. Regular cake droops under the weight of fondant.

A pony, a trophy and a . . . DOH!

Don't cha' you wish you were hot like me?
Check it! I rock as a photographer! I even got the pony to smile!
Yep, it was Western day at school. Complete with pony rides.
Logan, of course wanted nothing to do with western wear.
Hence, the cowboy and the rebel.
aka Logan and his best bud AJ.
All kidding aside, I LOVE my job. Being able to be with Logan during fun days like this is priceless to me. I'm truly blessed.
(and I mean that in a totally cosmic way . . .)
Speaking of blessed!
Craig lead the way to a championship victory for his team, The Blood Donors. Because, you and I both know they could not have done it without him.

So what did HE get for all his hard work . . .

An all expenses due trip to the MRI machine!

Logan's Bowling Party

Well, Logan finally got his bowling party . . . only a week late!
He didn't seem to hold that against me.

Logan with his Ben 1o Alien Force cake.

Which I basically threw together since he didn't come up with a party theme until yesterday!
I may have used a bit too much food coloring . . .
But no one seemed to mind!
It was a good afternoon. A fun afternoon. And yes, I'm glad it's over!
Now it's time to, as Dee would say, assume the position, with a piece of blue birthday cake and veg.

We learned our children have their very own unique style to bowling. Neither of which will ensure a cushy retirement for us! Oh well!

Logan wasn't falling. He did this every time.

February!

Well, 2010 has gotten off to a rocky start. We have all been in various stages of illness for the past 4 weeks. I, honestly, am waiting for the host of "Hoarders" to show up on my door step due to all the piles of junk that have appeared throughout my house.

But, now that I'm feeling a little better, I thought I'd update everyone on all the 'going's on' of the Steindorf's. I mean, besides all the coughing and puking!
Luckily I had about 3 days between colds to get this cake done for a customer. Nothing too special, in fact I offered to do this without pay because I thought I could have done better. But the customer was wonderful, said his wife loved it and it tasted great. So I guess that's what counts.
Last weekend, the sun came out and the temperature hit almost 70. So, Chloe and her friends felt it was time to go swimming. And for some reason, Craig thought that was a great idea.
Well, after about 10 minutes of them running around the pool, dipping their toes in and squealing, I offered up a cupcake to any of them who could sit in the 55 degree water for two minutes.

These were the winners. As you can see, neither of my children could do it.
In fact, here's Chloe's attempt at getting in.

Logan never did get in.

(you think this event may have had something to do with all the colds?)

Logan, of course turned five.
Luckily I had a small cake in my cake fridge. It was purple. But, after another layer of blue frosting and some fondant Dino's, Presto - Logan's birthday cake. He didn't seem to mind that it was still purple when you cut into it.
I'm currently making another one for his "Birthday Bowling get together" tomorrow.

Chloe drew Logan a special birthday banner. Logan thought it was very cool.Even Logan will tell you, she's a pretty great big sister!

And, the children inadvertently got a special Valentine's present.
We're happy to announce the arrival of two new family members.
Coco and Brownie Another girl scout leader needed a home for these two sisters, but didn't want to break them up and Craig and I had been thinking about getting the kids something.

And, no we can't tell them apart either.
And I got a special Valentine's treat myself. Even though I think flowers are a total waste of money, especially on Valentine's day, I secretly loved getting these at work.
Gerber Daisies are my favorite.
Thank you Craig. No matter what you may have heard,
I think you're pretty terrific.

Our little big 5 year old

Happy Birthday to the cutest little 5 year old I know.
I can't imagine what our lives would be like without this little boy.

Logan - You're the best.

Now have a tookie!

Austin . . .well, sort of.

We headed off to Austin last weekend. Craig was playing in a hockey tournament and the kids and I were going to check out Austin, the outlet mall and some caverns. Well, turns out, we weren't really anywhere near Austin and never had a enough time to go to the outlet mall. So, here are few shots of the cool cavern.
As soon as we went in, we were met by a couple of greeters.
We thought this was very cool! We hiked down into the mountain for about a half an hour. Chloe and Logan were both surprisingly interested in everything.
Jules, the next shot is for you. While most of the 'rooms' inside the cavern where huge, we had to go through several small tunnel like openings during our walk.

I was doing okay, until I started thinking about how far in we really were. After that, I could actually feel the air getting thinner and thinner.

But even in my semi-hysterical state, I was amazed by what we saw.
So were the kids!Luckily, not long after I started feeling my lungs constrict, it was time to head back up.
Here were two more cave dwellers wishing us a fond farewell.
And this was the only shot we got of Daddy playing hockey.
I think Logan actually took this picture. Nice job, Logan.
And then we headed home.
The trip tired some out more than others.
(yeah, no, she doesn't hear a word you say due to her MP3 Player, DS and the DVD going.)

A non-update.

Sorry for the delay in posts everyone, I seem to be dropping some of the balls I've been juggling!
But I did want to wish a very special lady a happy birthday. We wish we could have been there with you Dee. We love you very much!
And, while I'm not sure when I'll get to post some actual pictures, let me leave you with another gem from my dear daughter.
Chloe: Mama, Avitar was really good!
Me: Yeah?
Chloe: Yeah, but you know, there sure was a lot of bad words . . .Shall I list them for you, you already know a few.

Never a good sign . . .

. . . uhh, yeah, it's never a good sign when you walk into your son's classroom and he's the only one sitting on the carpet, while the rest of the class is at the tables.
It's even worse when, after being asked what he did, he answers
"I made something deadly."
I had to ask him to repeat this several times before seeking further explanation from his teacher. Logan's class had colored snowman.
Innocent enough, right?

We like to call this little work of art: Snowman gets whacked!

(Craig's response to this? "Boys will be boys"
